Workshops

The focus of the virtual clinical workshop will be the clinical use of the ANI qEEG / Neurofeedback Suite. Learning Objectives are detailed below, but broadly speaking, Attendees can expect to learn what every NeuroGuide Suite user needs to know!

The experience is designed to teach attendees how clinicians can profit using every aspect of the ANI tool set, from qEEG data collection to the very best effective neurofeedback, all with NeuroGuide and its add-on modules. These include qEEG data acquisition, artifacting, and qEEG analysis at four levels, each more detailed than the previous one. Of course, you can expect an awesome deep dive into NeuroNavigator.

The Level of the Workshop is INTERMEDIATE (See description below).

Attendees will be offered a limited-time 15% discount for any and all ANI Software purchased through NeuroShift Analytics (See financial interest statement, below).

Cancellation Policy Important Information Regarding Fees - Workshop fees are not refundable. If a workshop does not reach the 3-attendee minimum within 48 hours of its scheduled date, The workshop will be reschedule to such a time as the 3-person minimum is reached. For those attendees who do not wish to reschedule to a future date, their workshop fees will be refunded minus a $50 credit card-administration fee. Registered Virtual Workshops attendees who miss the workshop (“no-shows”) will not be offered a refund or a workshop at a future date. Attending a future Virtual Workshops (for such “no-showers”) will require a new (not discounted) $795 payment.

Workshop Curriculum

qEEG & Neurofeedback

This topic is discussed throughout the one-day workshop. The topics of Neurofeedback, recording EEG, artifacting and removing non-cerebral activity, and generating maps are discussed.

Brief Introduction to More Advanced Features of NeuroGuide

NeuroShift Analytics is developing and planning to offer an Advanced NeuroGuide Workshop in the near future. To the degree that time permits during the afternoon session, the following advanced topics will be listed and discussed: Training Power vs. Connectivity Metrics. Event Related Potentials, (ERPs), Brain Performance Metrics, by Network (BNI), Bidirectional Connectivity using the Phase Slope Index (PSI); LORETA Connectivity; Cross Frequency Training, others (depending on available time).

Neuropsychology

The Curriculum for this Workshop is based on the principles of Clinical Neuroscience, Clinical Neuropsychology, and Clinical Neuromodulatory Interventions. A discussion of neuropsychological assessment, and how this informs the linking of brain maps to presenting symptomology, is included in the morning session. This discussion will include examining cases specific to the assessment and treatment of brain trauma and acquired brain injury, addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, behavior and cognition.

The topics above and as well as the Learning Objectives below are expected to take up six to seven of the eight hours planned for the virtual workshop. The last hour will be spent offering to review any .ng files that the attendees may make available from their own clients and cases (for those attendees who already use NeuroGuide but seek to learn how to use it more effectively).

Virtual Workshops will be limited to no more than 8 attendees per workshop date. A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 attendees is considered optimal for both Dr. Lambos and for the attendees

Course Learning Objectives for CE Credits

Introduce core concepts related to Webinar content.
Discuss the professional requirements for practitioners wishing to offer the services demonstrated and explained in the Webinar
Address requirements of the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) certifications, and address routes to attain same.
Demonstrate a real-time EEG data acquisition using NeuroGuide, for any supported amplifier (Cognionix CGX to be used in webinar).
Analyze the data from the above acquisition, as well as from qEEG recordings and interpretations of actual past clients of Dr. Lambos, all sanitized to remove identifying client information.
Discuss and explain how presenting symptoms are linked to the qEEG dysregulations in brain functioning.
Create EEG biofeedback treatment protocols in NeuroGuide.
Perform Z-Scored 19 Channel swLORETA EEG Biofeedback using NeuroGuide, including setting and adjusting reward thresholds and related session parameters.
Assess the outcomes of a representative sample of said clients.
Explain and demonstrate to attendees the proper use of relevant aspects of NeuroGuide and the NeuroNavigator software modules.

CONTINUING EDUCATION STATEMENT - Psychologists

The Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback maintains responsibility for the program and its content.

INTERMEDIATE: Content builds upon the learner's foundational knowledge, familiarity with the literature and/or experience in a content area. Programming at this level includes more depth than at a beginning level program. It could also serve as a refresher course for individuals who have a background in a content area and are interested in learning more contemporary applications. The primary goal of this particular program is to broaden the clinical, consultative, and research knowledge bases of attendees and was deemed intermediate, by the definition above. For those psychologists using the modality of biofeedback and interested in efficacy, science, and latest clinical applications. This conference presents research relevant to psychological practice, education, and science; (2) it is our intention to host an offering to help psychologists to keep up with the most current scientific evidence regarding assessment, intervention, and education; and (3) we believe that this program would allow psychologists to increase competencies to improve services to patients. This conference is IN NO WAY a substitute for the basic academic education and training needed for entry into the field.

GRIEVANCE POLICY:

The Association of Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB) is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists. AAPB will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of the Education Chair in consultation with the members of the continuing education committee, the AAPB Ethics Chairperson, Continuing Education (CE) Committee Chairperson, Program Planning Committee Chairperson, and/or the Conference Chairperson. While AAPB goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which come to the attention of the convention staff which require intervention and/or action on the part of the convention staff or an officer of AAPB. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such grievances. 1. When a participant, either orally or in written format, files a grievance and expects action on the complaint, the following actions will be taken. If the person toward whom the grievance is directed is also the instructor or a chair of any of the above-mentioned committees, the AAPB Board of Directors will appoint a Board representative to oversee the resolution of any of the participant complaints, in an effort to avoid any and all conflicts of interest. If the grievance concerns a speaker, the content presented by the speaker, or the style of presentation, the individual filing the grievance will be asked to put his/her comments in written format. The CE Chair will then pass on the comments to the speaker, assuring the confidentiality of the grieved individual. 2. If the grievance concerns a workshop offering, its content, level of presentation, or the facilities in which the workshop was offered, the convention chair will mediate and will be the final arbitrator. If the participant requests action, the convention chair will: a) attempt to move the participant to another workshop or b) provide a credit for a subsequent year's workshop or c) provide a partial or full refund of the workshop fee. Actions 2b and 2c will require a written note, documenting the grievance, for record keeping purposes. The note need not be signed by the grieved individual. 3. If the grievance concerns an AAPB CE program, in a specific regard, the CE Chair will attempt to arbitrate.
